People continue to react angrily to ads featuring Colin Kaepernick, the controversial athlete who sparked awareness of racial injustice in the NFL.
“I burned up all of my Nike’s and as soon as I saw him in that Kingsford charcoal commercial, I burned that too. Threw in right on the grill and burned it. That’ll show ’em” Said Sally Lee James of Billings, Montana. Kenneth Davis of Cincinnati, Ohio had a different problem:
“I had folks over for a barbecue. We all support Kaep so folks got mad when I was about to light the charcoal. They thought I was making a statement against him and wouldn’t let me light it. We just sat around hungry.”.
A spokesperson for Kingsford said they are scrapping plans to feature Kaepernick in their lighter fluid ads.
“We don’t want people to get hurt from setting bottles of lighter fluid on fire.”
